Honor Your Friendships with Yellow, Pink and Purple this August

Two friends smiling and laughing

The first Sunday of August marks National Friendship Day – a celebration of the loving companionship friendships promotes in our lives.

As we journey through life, we realize things are outside our control; we have no say in who our parents are, our genetic makeup, or environmental events. However, we get to choose those special people who bring positivity and joy to our lives; our friends.

The best thing about dedicating ourselves to forming connections with others is that not only do our friends add to our lives, but we can also improve their lives as well!

We’ve chosen the colors yellow, pink and purple, representing joy, kindness and trust to honor the platonic relationships that bring meaning to our lives.

The History of Friendship Day

Beginning in the early 1900s, the greeting card industry spearheaded Friendship Day, followed by Hallmark Cards officially proclaiming the National Friendship Day celebration in 1919 on the first Sunday of August.

“A man’s friendships are one of the best measures of his worth.” – Charles Darwin

Now Friendship Day is marked by people all over the world in more than 150 countries, providing an opportunity to recognize the significance of friendship and to connect with those who are important in our lives.

Color and Commemoration

Friendships provide much-needed human connection during difficult times and remind us of WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT IN LIFE.

Celebrating friendship is a great way to show appreciation for the people in our life who have been there for us and who we can count on to be there for us in the future.

Appreciating the people closest to us reminds us that we are never truly alone and that, with good company, we can conquer any challenge.

The Color Yellow

Yellow is a vibrant, joyful color that elicits delight, positivity, and contentment. It is often connected to the sun, intellect, vigor, and cheerfulness. Yellow is an inspiring shade that spreads JOY AND BLISS.

Not only is it a great addition to any room or outfit, but it also carries special meaning in friendship. It serves as a reminder of the fun shared amongst friends, evocative of laughter and cheer.

Add a sunny yellow wall to your home, a bright yellow scarf, or a cheerful sunflower pin to bring a splash of yellow into your life!

The Color Pink

Pink exudes warmth and compassion; it symbolizes tenderness, empathy, and strong, loving relationships between people. Its softness can convey romance, friendship and fun.

It is often believed to represent femininity and cheerfulness and is strongly associated with love, affection, sweetness, and optimism.

A flower arrangement in pink hues, a pastel pink blazer, or a pale pink paint job in the bedroom – all these choices embody the kindness and adoration associated with this color.

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” – Marcel Proust.

The Color Purple

The color purple symbolizes trust, loyalty, and strong bonds between friends. It is also associated with creativity, imagination and compassion, emphasizing the intensity of a friendship.

This regal and enigmatic hue reflects friends’ confidence in each other and captures the profound connection between them.

Incorporating this color into your wardrobe, home décor, or accessories adds a hint of refinement and sophistication. Some ideas are a luxe purple scarf, an eggplant-colored ornament, or a bedazzled purple wall.

Express Yourself With Colorful Potential

For Friendship Day, YOU CAN EXPRESS YOUR APPRECIATION FOR YOUR FRIENDS IN FUN AND UNIQUE WAYS USING COLORS!

Whether you like a bright yellow, a delicate pink, or a stately purple, these colors can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe, home design, or overall style.
